3 Big To Small Things Of Painting Process

Hi,

Would you like to make your painting process simpler and more predictable? If yes, this post is for you!

Working from big to small while painting, is the key for that.
Here are the 3 ways you can implement this approach!

      1. Shapes

When you are composing and making the drawing, think about large shapes first and then smaller and smaller shapes.

This is similar to reading the index of a book before diving into the chapters or like planning the outline of a vacation before deciding details such as which hotel to stay in or whether we should drive there of take a flight.

      2. Strokes

Always use long and fluid strokes when you start the painting. These strokes should cover large areas of painting quickly. You should not think too much while doing this.

As your painting progresses, make smaller and smaller marks.

      3. Brushes

Use large brushes in the initial stages of the painting process. They will help you make the long & bold strokes we talked in the earlier point.

Always use a slightly larger brush than the one you are comfortable with. Don't worry, you'll gradually get used to it and will have a lot of fun painting with it.

In the later stages of the painting process, use progressively smaller and smaller brushes.

This big to small approach will make your painting process simpler and you'll paint better paintings.

Now I want to hear from you. What's the main takeaway for you from this post? Let me know in the comments below.
